When the University of St. Thomas Dance Team brought their design concepts and ideas for both their hiphop and jazz routines this year, we couldn't have been more excited to get started! We have worked with the team for many years, but were extra thrilled that the ladies wanted to push the boundaries, using sublimation for jazz and stretching our "street clothes" making abilities to the limit with hiphop.
For jazz, they went with a warrior, armor theme that was darker than they have had in the past. We sublimated a chain looking design onto the mesh sleeves that the team completely rhinestoned. The triangle studs added to the top of the shoulders was the cherry on top to complete the armor look. Also, they wanted to have an open back, but with a twist. They decided to go with all mesh on the very low back. It looked gorgeous! The simple biketard was made extravagant with the detailing and embellishments.
Fortunately for us, the team is located in Minnesota and we were able to have a special photo shoot showcasing their amazing talent and beautiful costumes. Check out more photos from the shoot on our Facebook page!
In January, the team competed at UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida where they came home with not one, but two national titles: Open Jazz and Open Hiphop! Congratulations ladies! You deserve it.
