Matador-Inspired Pom Costume for Mountain View Toro Pom

When Mountain View Toro Pom set out to create a new competition look, they had a clear vision in mind: bold, dramatic, and deeply connected to their identity. With the Toros as their mascot, they wanted a costume inspired by the artistry and intensity of traditional matador style—something that would stand out on the floor and elevate their entire performance.

From concept to completion, this custom design was all about bringing that vision to life in a way that felt both powerful and uniquely theirs.

Why They Chose The Line Up

With a strong vision already in place, Mountain View Toro Pom was looking for a partner who could not only execute their concept, but elevate it.

They chose The Line Up for our ability to bring creative ideas to life through thoughtful design, high-quality materials, and a collaborative process from start to finish. Our team worked closely with their program to ensure every detail aligned with their original concept while enhancing the overall look for performance.

From initial communication to final delivery, the focus was on precision, responsiveness, and creating a costume that felt as powerful as the routine itself.

The Vision: Performance Meets Identity

Mountain View Toro Pom came to us looking for a costume that would:

  • Reflect their Toro mascot— inspired by the Spanish word for bull— through a matador-inspired theme
  • Capture a strong, performative, and dramatic presence
  • Incorporate elements of school pride
  • Deliver a one-of-a-kind look that would stand out in competition

Every detail needed to feel intentional, cohesive, and impactful from the stands to the stage.

Where It All Begins: The Creative Direction

Behind every standout performance is a strong creative vision—and for Mountain View Toro Pom, that starts with their choreographers.

Haylee Holland and Jessie Palmer are the creative minds behind the team’s routine each season, developing the theme and sketching the original costume design concepts. Their process goes far beyond choreography—they present a full concept to the coaches, thoughtfully tying together the theme, costume direction, and even music ideas.

This level of creativity and intention sets the foundation for everything that follows. Their ability to continuously elevate and push the envelope year after year is what makes each season feel fresh, exciting, and unforgettable.

Design Details That Made the Look

This custom costume was designed with both performance and visual impact in mind. Each element worked together to create a striking, cohesive look:

  • Spanish-inspired floral patterning that added depth and artistry
  • A bold red cape detail for movement and dramatic effect
  • Structured gold chest plates to create a strong, commanding silhouette
  • Shoulder epaulets that elevated the overall design
  • Custom Mountain View logo placement on the back for a personalized finish

No detail was overlooked. Every feature was thoughtfully incorporated to enhance both the aesthetic and performance quality of the uniform.

What the Coach Had to Say

"We absolutely LOVED working with The Line Up this season for our Matador-inspired pom costume! Nicole and her team, from start to finish, were professional, responsive, and dedicated to bringing our vision to life.

With our mascot being the Toros, we wanted this costume to reflect the performative and dramatic aspect of the bull-fighting theme, while also proudly representing our school—and they delivered a final product better than we could have imagined.

The design was so thoughtfully done, the quality was the highest standard, and the detailing was impeccable. From the Spanish-inspired floral patterning, the red cape, the gold chest plates, the shoulder epaulets, and the Mountain View logo on the back, no detail was overlooked.

Our dancers were so excited to put on this uniform, and that excitement enhanced their energy and confidence on stage. We received so many compliments and were always proud to say The Line Up created this masterpiece.

Mountain View Toro Pom is so grateful to work with such an incredible company, and we could not recommend The Line Up enough to any programs looking for both reliability and creativity in their costume design."
