Dance Space's Lyrical Senior Team
One Team’s Strength
The Dance Space studio recently shared with us photos and video of their stunning custom dance costume and lyrical performance at competition! This group’s lyrical dance titled “My Strength” really imbibes the core values of their team: strength and determination. The team endured many injuries and formation changes throughout the year, yet the dancers rose to the challenge, ultimately placing 3rd overall as a Small Group during their season!

Year after year, we have learned to expect a call from the same person immediately after the Minnesota State High School Dance Competition season ends. This year was no exception! On the Monday following the state competition, Lois Krinke, coach of the Faribault Emeralds Dance Team, reached out to us ready to start thinking about her team's next dance costume! As always, she gets the early bird prize for planning well in advance for the 2016/2017 season.
There was a time - years ago for those of us that can remember - when everyone recognized the Faribault team by their emerald green sequins and full skirts (which always included a very full white crinoline underskirt). Thankfully fashion changes, and this is no longer the case! The team excels in High Kick, where new ideas and unpredictability is essential to their success. We've worked with the University of St. Thomas Dance Team (USTDT) for a while now, and it's always exciting to see what inspiration they bring us each summer! From elegant to edgy, the team always seems to fully bring their chosen theme to life. This year was no exception!
Finding Inspiration
USTDT found inspiration for their jazz routine from one very strong woman: Ronda Rousey. Rousey - an American mixed martial artist, UFC Champion, and Judo Olympian - was ranked the most "dominant" active athlete in 2015, man or woman. The team connected with her story of strength and pride, rise against the odds, and female empowerment. Their goal for their 2015-2016 season? Push the limits, just like Rousey, and have a routine & costume they hadn't seen before.
