This past weekend, The Line Up crew sponsored and participated in the Joggin for the Noggin 5k race, an event to raise concussion awareness. The race was organized by 6 Honor Society students from Chanhassen High School, one of which (Quinn), is the son of our web store guru, Karen Lanners. We couldn't have been more impressed with Quinn and his classmate's ambition and hard work in organizing the successful event!
A blurb on the event, pulled from their Facebook page:
"Joggin' for the Noggin 5K Run/Walk is a fundraising event created by six Chanhassen High School Honor Society members to raise concussion awareness. The event was created to raise money for the Traumatic Brain Injury Program at Hennepin County Medical Center.
The idea for this event was brought about when the students were searching for a way to raise funds to support Nick Tofteland (their football coach and youth minister). Nick suffered a severe concussion a year ago, which completely turned his life upside down. When the plan for a 5K was presented to Nick, he loved the idea but preferred that rather than proceeds going to him, the event be an awareness run with funds donated to a health foundation.
Hence, the six students partnered with Hennepin County Medical Center, offering to give all proceeds from the event to the Traumatic Brain Injury Program of the Medical Center. Other Sponsors were: College Expert, OSR Physical Therapy, Anderson Race Management, JFN Inc., Klein Bank."
