Competition season officially came to an end last weekend for our Wisconsin high school dance team friends, at the the 2017 WACPC State Dance Championships! If we can say anything definitive about these lovely teams, it's that they KNOW how to do custom costumes! Brightly colored Pom uniforms, edgy High Kick costumes, flowy Jazz costumes, and innovative Hip Hop looks - there's a wide variety in Wisconsin!

It was a whirlwind couple of days for high school teams this past weekend at NDTC Nationals! If you're a dance fan like ourselves, odds are you skipped the Super Bowl and were live streaming UDA Nationals instead!
With so many teams coming together at the largest national competition for dance, it's always fun to see the wide range of costume styles! Here were a few of our favorite dance costume trends from the competition! While we can't take credit for creating many of these costumes, we were lucky enough to work with quite a few teams!!

If you're a member of the dance community, we have a feeling you (like us!) were live streaming UDA College Nationals this weekend! We were blown away by all the incredible talent - technique, skills, precision, and costume design get more and more impressive every year!!
UDA College Nationals are always a source of inspiration for choreography and costumes, and we find the trends for high school dance line usually start here! While we watched, we made note of a few repeating themes in regards to costume design. We can't take credit for all of these costumes and trends, but here are a few of our favorites!!

The Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders
Every year, we're so excited to take the short trip to Atlanta, GA to attend the All Pro 3 P-R-O convention! This get-together is one of the biggest conventions for pro, semi-pro and college cheerleaders and dancers from around the country. The P-R-O convention consisted of well-known NFL and NBA coaches and choreographers who taught new, fresh routines to the teams who attended. We loved seeing what the choreographers brought this year and enjoyed watching the amazing teams pick up the complicated choreography so quickly! Touching base with our customers and coaches always makes visiting memorable. We were so happy to see all of our talented friends again and can't wait to revisit HOTLANTA next year!

Not only was it a big weekend for college dance, but for the synchronized skating world as well! Some of the best teams from all over the world represented their country at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championship in Budapest, Hungary. Twenty six teams entered, representing 21 nations at the highest level of synchronized skating. (Fun fact: in 2000, the first World championships was organized of 17 countries in Minneapolis, MN!) We are proud to have outfitted two teams who competed this past weekend: Team USA 2 (Miami University of Ohio) and Team Switzerland (Cool Dreams Senior). This past weekend, college dance teams from all over the country came together in Daytona, Florida to compete at the NDA Collegiate Dance Championship, and man, it was a show!
We were so proud to have outfitted many of the extraordinary teams who danced their hearts out at Peabody Auditorium and The Bandshell. The costumes were eye-catching and we loved seeing them in action!

This past weekend, synchronized skating teams from all over the country came together in Kalamazoo, Michigan to compete at the 2016 US National Synchronized Skating Championships.
This event is filled with amazing choreography, energy, and (our favorite!) dresses! One thing that can be said about all synchronized skate teams: they know how to commit to their theme with choreography and costuming, while always maintaining a feminine and glamorous edge! One trend we noticed this year? Accessorizing skate dresses with black leggings or tights, which really puts an emphasis on the leg against the white ice!

This past weekend, dance teams from across Minnesota came together at the Target Center in Minneapolis, ready to compete in the Minnesota State High School League (MHDSL) Dance Team championship! On Friday, 36 high school teams competed in the jazz category, and the following day 36 teams (some the same, some new!) were ready to take on the high kick category. We are so proud of our many customers that competed this weekend at State!

Competition season has reached the height of excitement the past couple of weeks. With so many state and national competitions, we can hardly keep up with all of the amazing performances! Congratulations to all of the phenomenal North Dakota high school dance teams, who finished their competition season at NDADD's State last month. We always love seeing what our ND teams bring for costume inspiration. One trend you guys always know how to rock: amazing, stand out unitards!
