It's official – competition season is finally here! Among the many competitions and invitationals this week, our friends to the south just wrapped up their Iowa State Dance & Drill competition. In the Class 4 hip hop division the Waterloo Columbus Catholic Dance Team took first place for the third year in a row! And for the second year in a row, the team won the "Judges Choice" Award, which is only given to three standout performances of the day!
Going a different direction on a dance, costume and theme is a risk many teams take. This past year, the University of St. Thomas Dance Team (located in Minnesota, not the island) took a major risk with a one song, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z "Holy Grail" routine at the 2015 UDA College National Championship and it paid off! We were eager to bring their costume vision to life and match the "JT swag" they were going for.
When Middleton High school Dance Team came to us with their Ridin' theme, we knew this custom hip hop costume was going to be a hit.
